INSHORE

Some large Snapper are being caught with live bait as well as with poppers around structure.  The Roosterfish have been active around structure and around the beaches.  Some very large Jacks have been caught this week as well.

OFFSHORE

Dorado are everywhere and boats are landing double digits some days.  Sailfish are being raised everyday and an occaisional Blue Marlin have been seen recently.

FRESHWATER

The rivers are perfect right now for float fishing with lots of Machaca ready to take flies or lures.  The Roncador have spawned and streams of fry are running up the banks bringing Snook, Machaca and even Ronco’s to the banks to eat.

Inshore – Captain Pepsi is making clients work for their catch but they aren’t complaining.  His last trips have all produced Roosters in the 20 to 30 pound range and Snook and Corvina when they fish close to shore.

Offshore – Dorado, and more Dorado.  Sails too.  Daily reports are all the same.  Marlin are still being taken farther out.  Tuna are roaming and looking for boats to catch them.  Wahoo and all the others are being caught around the local sea mounts with artificials and live bait.

Freshwater – Machaca, Roncador and Snook are all eating streamers or spinning tackle with numerous fish caught on each float trip.

Inshore – The weather is great and the fishing is tambien.  Roosterfish are being caught almost every trip and Snook, Snapper, Corvina, Jacks and Mackerel are all seen weekly.

Offshore – The last week has seen Marlin, Sailfish, Dorado, Tuna and Wahoo all being caught by lucky anglers.  The bite around structure is producing numerous Wahoo and Snapper.

Freshwater – Machaca and Roncador have both become much more active since their habitats are growing again.  Fishing from inflatable drift provide the best action but wade fishing is very productive as well.

Inshore – The Roosters have decided to eat a little more liberally this past week with only a couple taking Lookdowns.  Sierra Mackerel have been abundant with nice 10 plus pounders lurking with the younger fish.  Snapper are eating well on bait around structure.  Some great days have been seen around the river mouths with 5 and 7 Snook trips and Corvina being thrown into the mix.

Offshore – Every boat that has been going out has been catching Sailfish and Dorado with more of the later than the former.  Marlin are still being caught weekly and Wahoo are being caught around the offshore structure.

Freshwater – The rivers are finally at a great level for float fishing trips in inflatable drift boats and the Machaca are very active now.

Inshore – This week the Roosterfish were very active.  Pez Rey 1 had 9 fish to the boat this week all over 30 lbs.  The action with Jack Crevalle on the fly has been very good with schools feeding on what Herring they can find.  There have been large numbers of Snook in the river mouths that are very shallow due to low water conditions in the rivers.

Offshore – There are still Blue Marlin in the area (30 miles) and Stripped Marlin farther out.  Sailfish are being caught closer in but still over 20 miles.

Freshwater – The fishing has been slow due to the low levels but the rains are starting to show up in the mountains which should help.  Fishing is being done only by wading the rivers, but it is good if you head up into the mountains.

Inshore  - Sardinas are finally showing up in small numbers, late but better than never,  possibly due to the mixed up weather in the area.  There have been overcast days and some rain that is unusual for this time of year, but the fishing has been great with other baits, Mullet and Palomettas.   This week fly anglers have caught Bonito, Pacific Jack Crevalle, Roosterfish, Sierra Mackerel and Dorado with streamers and floating lines while aboard Pez Rey 1 with Leonardo “Pepsi” Maraina.

Offshore – The Harry Gray fly fishing tournament is in full swing with the leader at this point being Frenzy with a total of 13 Sailfish, 2 Blue Marlin and 7 Dorado.  All of the boats in the local fleet are fishing this week and the results have been good all around.

Freshwater – The rivers are dropping rapidly but the fishing is still good.  Yesterdays trip with two fly anglers was productive with several Machaca and small Snook to the boat.
